About The Artist
Ron Houchens had been drawing since the
young age of 5 when his mother encouraged his passion for art &
allowed him to paint his bedroom walls.
Always one to look for new “canvases”
to work on, Ron experimented with applying his techniques using paint
markers to create an octopus on a surfboard. That opened up a whole
new terrain for passionate vision. His first masterpiece was
accomplished when he custom painted a board for Greg Niles, a local
surfer and surf/skate shop owner. Ocean Pulse gave Ron his first big
break in getting his art noticed by allowing him to display his
finished work. From surfboards, he began painting on grip tape &
skateboards, & recently tested his skills in painting acrylics on
canvas.
Though Ron currently maintains his art
studio at home, the goal is to open an art gallery in the next two
years where he can feature all varieties of his work. Aquarium Art Show
